_NearPresent is set beneath a constellation of lethal semi-autonomous systems, dispersed geography, and constant heavy weather events following a catastrophic war between the super powers. Here, Private Military Contractors carry out a war by proxy within the threat rings of bleeding-edge area denial systems employing small arms, robots, drones, cyber attacks, and AI enabled strike missiles to ruthlessly prosecute their adversaries.

_NearPresent is a game of unforgiving close combat, complete with turn structures, stats, and systems to play out infantry battles for the sparse resources that have survived the war.
